Fast Food Nation Ch 8

Honestly, the thing that disturbs me the most about slaughterhouses is the total disregard for the animals that move through them. The "stun bolt" devices and sledge hammers must be excruciating for the cattle. Although the slaughterhouses claim to be humane, they could at least put the animals out a little quicker rather than having them half conscious, hanging from hooks.

  1. I was also disturbed by the way in which they subdued the cattle, but I can't think of a more humane and equally efficient method to replace the current one. Except sacrificing production for a more humane way of subduing them.
