Chapter four

The types of food the fast food joints sell are usually the kinds of meals you would have on a special occasion (hamburgers and hot dogs at a fourth of July BBQ etc) most families liked to consider these meals a treat and didn't have them that often, so when college students and families see that they are served at these places they realize that they can have these foods more often. It could even trigger memories from another time they had had the meal, which is another way that the industry can 'make you happy'.
