Huckleberry Finn Chapters 28-31

In chapters 28-31 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn the dauphin and the duke are exposed as frauds when the real Wilks brothers arrive. However, after some questioning the mob of people is left confused as to who the reals brothers are and who the frauds are. In response to the confusion, the mob wants to murder all four of them. This may be one way that Mark Twain pokes fun at humanity. Twain is poking fun at humanity in the sense that when people get confused they get aggravated, and the want to murder all four of these people is an exaggeration of this anger. However, it is not a far exaggeration, and could even be symbolic of the reaction towards blacks in the south at the time. Twain may also be poking fun at humanity since the duke and the dauphin get away with their malicious acts with relative ease, yet when the real brothers show up to get their rightfully owned money they have difficulty, and even get accused of being frauds themselves. It is interesting to point out that the mob thought the solution to the confusion would be to murder these men, even though many of them were gathered there to pay their respects to someone who was already dead.
