Chapters 28-31
In these chapters, the King and the Duke cause many problems for Huck and Jim. Huck knew from the beginning that they were trouble, but rather than speaking up and acting fast, he waited too long and was far too involved. He should not have waited so long to try to escape, and i think he comes to realize this when Jim is sold and he loses his raft. He claims to be left with no "property," meaning Jim, but I dont think it is so much that he wants Jim to have property, I think that he has come to rely on Jim and that he considers him one of the only constants in his life, therefore when he sees that he may never see him again he is shaken up. Huck has matured and endured a lot, but I think that he loses it when Jim is gone, because he does not know if he will be able to make it without him. I predict that he will go on to look for Jim and find him, because he really has no other option. He has no way of transportation, so the only thing that will give Huck that sense of something familiar again it having Jim there.
