Ch 6 Fast Food Nation

I think that at the rate things are going, it is safe to say that before my life is over, farmers, ranchers, and their suppliers will have little place in the production of meat and poultry. Many people will become subjected to the diseases and other illnesses that can result from eating too much meat that is “beefed” up with chemicals. Health nuts will attempt to fight their own battle of finding free-range meat, a practice that is quickly dying out in the effort to make a quick buck. Vegans and PETA will always be around to try to stop the use of growth hormones but will have little success in having legislation passed. Governors and certainly others up in Washington will always be a bone of contention between producers and consumers. Fast food will eventually become even unhealthier than it already is. No one wants to eat something fake or filled with hormones; sales will definitely suffer.

  1. I sadly agree very much with the first sentence. I find it almost pathetic and unreal that meat and poultry will rarely come from ranchers. There is no way for that to be healthy.
