The History of Teacher

Written by Billy Collins, The History Teacher is a satire which pokes fun at the teachers who are watering down the students material to such an extreme that the world is such a perfect place that wars and evil are equal to peaceful conflicts or curious expeditions. The result is the unfortunate students have become so ignorant that they act like that of beasts, who go around terrorizing the children on the play ground because they have not been taught even the simple things such as right and wrong because in class they have been taught that even wars are not evil so how can these children discern whether their actions are good or evil or in the most extreme case; is there such a thing as right or wrong? The whole purpose of this satirical poem is to show in an extreme way how teachers are not doing their job in the most basic terms of teaching their students correctly and how the product is a society of ignorant beings who at an early age terrorize the people among them because they know no better.
