Chapters 32- 36
In these chapters of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," we see Huck digging himself a deeper hole in the situations he gets himself into. For starters, when he lied about being Tom Sawyer, he knew that eventually Tom would show up and he would have to add even more lies to explain this situation. He continues to pile on lie after lie, and pretty soon, I predict, that he will not be able to work his way out of them, at least without a fight. Another time we see Huck going in deeper to a situation is also when we see Tom's childish and "know- it- all" attitude come back. Huck seems to be using his common sense in getting Jim back, but Tom says that that would simply be too simple, and therefore they needed to do everything the hard way. Huck becomes a follower again by doing just what Tom says, even though he knows that Tom is wrong and that it is going to end badly, which makes it just as much his fault. Huck and Tom still have much growing up to do, but you can see certain areas where they are already matured, but it is situations like these that make the reader realize the age again.
