Huckleberry Finn ch 12-15

During these chapters we see that Huck is becoming less cautious and more carefree now that they have left the town far behind them. Huck is starting to act like Tom because he is now the one telling Jim about kings and dukes and European culture and Jim is the one saying its all crazy. When Huck convinces Jim to land on the wreck he even uses the excuse that Tom would have done it to get Jim to go along with it. Huck's new childish side may start to cause problems for Huck and Jim. His childish prank on Jim could have ruined their friendship if Huck hadn't gone and apologized. I think that Hucks new need to take risks is going to get them in trouble at some point.

  1. I feel that this is an accurate assesment of Huck at our current point in the book. Huck's childish carelessness will eventually get them into major trouble. They already had a close call with the robbers, but as Jim now has a bounty on his head, mistakes revealing identity or even stepping out in public could mean the end of their adventure.
