Fast Food Nation: Chapter 8

The most disturbing aspect of the slaughterhouses is that the workers are treated with the same equality as that of the slaughtered animals. Each day hundreds of them will be cut, lose limbs and be stabbed and instead of being taken care of they are reprimanded as if it was their fault and harshly punished... AKA "fired" And if they are lucky they are given a job back but at 1/3 the pay because they have become a useless asset in the eyes of the company. It is truly appalling that these companies have so little concern for the well being of their employees's. The only way to solve this problem "straight and simple" is to punish those in charge harshly for their neglect, impose hefty fines for any signs of neglect to the workers and to make it mandatory for all workers at the end of the fiscal quarter to make a report in regards to the companies treatment towards them.

  1. I also find this aspect of the slaughterhouses disturbing, I do not understand how the companies can justify their treatment towards their workers. The industry would be more worker friendly if your solution to this issue would be implemented.
