Fast Food Nation ch.3

I think that the elderly or the infirm shouldn't be employed by fast food. They have to work long hours and that isnt good for an elderly person. I also think that employees should be able to speak the language of the country they are working in. This is just a common curtosy which you would expect but rarely see. I think that people look down on all fast food workers on reflex. They see someone woking for a fast food company and immediately think that they are to lazy to get a real job. Seeing someone different from you makes it worse as they may be seen as stealing jobs that people like you could have.

  1. There are guidelines and laws that protect workers over (say 40, I’m not really sure) from being discriminated against in the employment process, but at the same time the fast food industry needs to hire workers that are quick on their feet. Some (illegal) immigrant workers argue that they are simply taking the jobs no one wants, as in they aren’t really taking American citizen’s jobs.
