Fast Food Nation Ch2
Fast Food marketers, as with many other kinds of marketers, focus on influencing children for one key reason: they are easy to persuade. By showing how much "fun" other children playing with their happy meal toy or eating their chicken nuggets, fast food marketers can easily evoke a sense of desire in children. Children are very good at manipulating the will of their parents, so by marketing to kids, the parents then feel responsible to fill the "void" in their child's life by buying them food from a specific fast food restaurant. Children are clearly the best target for marketing, if fast food marketers were to advertise to an older age group, they wouldn't have the same effect.
