Fast food nation- ch. 2
Children become the main target, because they are the easiest target. Whether it is right to do or not, I think that they are just using smart strategy. This is probably one of the better age groups to target for the simple fact that children tend to beg and beg to go "play on the McDonald's playground" or " get the newest toy in the happy meal. Often, children will pursuade their parents to take them and by "giving" the children happiness, it will rub off on parents and the children will continue wanting McDonalds through there teen years because it would have become something familiar to them.

I agree with you on the topic of the 'familiar' factor. You said that targeting children was a smart strategy, but do you think it worked as much as they had hoped it would?
ReplyDeleteI do, as long as they keep it fresh and updated because children easily loose interest, but i think they are being successful at keeping them interested.
