Chapter 3
because our society makes a big deal about how everyone should have the same opportunities the answer SHOULD be no, everyone should be allowed behind the counter. However, I believe if we followed that, it would become a bit ridiculous. People who cannot speak the language that is most commonly used in that area shouldn't be allowed to work behind the counter. How can you actually do your job well if you can't understand the majority of the people you serve?there is also the issue of criminals ( not misdemeanors, but people with felonies). Yes, they eventually have to get back on their feet and get another job (if they ever get out of prison), but I don't think it would be wise to let them take a customer service job. I don't have a problem with people different from me serving me/taking my order at a restaurant. As long as they can do their job well and they have manners I am fine.

I agree with your statement about those who cannot speak English being behind the counter. I remember reading that those workers only speak “McDonalds English” and given America’s state today, that’s just plain sad. I definitely agree with the formerly incarcerated workers statement as well; I’m glad you’d be open to different people serving you.
