Ch 5 Fast Food Nation
I don’t think the French fry is the icon of the fast food industry, rather Ronald McDonald representing that type of food as a whole. I think French fries are definitely important to consumers and corporations alike, representing a quick snack as well as a fast way for a corporation to make money. Other products are publicized more so than the French fry: hamburgers, fish sandwiches, mocha shakes. If corporations want to make more money from the French fry, perhaps the recipe could be looked at again to make them better as well as advertising more about them.

While Ronald McDonald may represent the McDonald's franchise, or the hamburger or mocha shake may remind us of a certain place, french fries are more subtley pushed as a big deal in the industry. As others in the class put it, its "expected" that you get french fries with fast food. Something that will forever remind us of the industry as a whole is french fries in one of those little cardboard boxes.
