A Talk to Teachers

In "A Talk to Teachers", Baldwin writes of young African American children growing up in New York. He talks about the challenges each of the children face; how children draw their own conclusions about people before they even realize they're doing so. The main purpose of this article was to show the African American children's take on the world and how everything that could possibly be offered in America is denied to them because of their African roots. While some might believe this is true, many schools and parents are good about exposing their children to different cultures and religions, thus not creating prejudice. Baldwin writes that Americans act like they're above everyone else. Who's to say that African Americans act exactly the same in their own way?
