Baldwin discusses the issue of individuality among out youth, and the teachers role in it. Everyone in society hears what others say, but there are few that are willing to question what people already "know." Teachers are not challenging students to think for themselves or to create their own opinions, therefore they here an opinion and that is what they believe and that is what becomes their own opinion.
Mikayla brings up a very valid point about the people voicing their opinions. It is a huge issue in society today that people do not say what needs to be said because they feel their opinion may not be politically correct. This mindset traces back to the classroom, and needs to be abolished there through critical thinking and developing individuality.
