Huckleberry Finn, chapters 12- 15

In these chapters, we see Huck's personality completely change. He becomes much more adventurous and pulls Jim into risky situations. In the long run, this could lead to trouble, because Huck seems to be trying to be just like Tom, and that could include dangerous encounters that he will be dragging Jim into. He appears to be getting this "know it all" attitude and when trying to educate Jim, he calls him names that Jim used to be called. This could ruin their friendship, because Jim could expect to be called these things by his master, but not someone he considered a friend. It just seems that something just hit Huck that made him feel like he needed to investigate things, like the wreck, rather than letting them go. I think that if Huck continues on this path, he could get himself into a lot of trouble and could convince Jim to follow him.

  1. I agree. I think Huck is on a destructive path. But I feel like Jim will lead Huck in the right direction because he is a good friend to Huck. I also think Huck is becoming home sick which is why he always brings up Tom Sawer. Maybe Huck is not as mature as he came off in he beginning, he seems to be trying to be a rebel and that is something he is not.
