Huck Finn chp. 16-18
A good amount of irony starts to appear in these chapters of Huckleberry Finn. The most obvious peice of irony is when Huck goes to church with the Grangerfords and the Grangerfords and the Shepards have their shot guns with them while the Preacher talks about brotherly love. A moresubtle example of irony in the chapters is how when Huck was in the gang with Tom Sawyer they talked about how they wanted to be murderers and robbers and now Huck becomes involved with Buck who is his age and tried to shoot a boy and Huck seems rather puzzled by it. It is also ironic how disturbed Huck is when he sees Buck killed when Huck faked his own death.

Is this irony or satire? Or both?
